Drive To Auckland

On the 12/5/21 my grandma and I went to Auckland to pick up some family from the UK. We had left at 6:17 well something like that. After a while of driving there was lots of road works ,we had just sit there for ages and then we had finally started to move. We had stopped at Caltex in Whangarei to get some fuel and some snacks along the road because we still had 2 hours ahead of us.

When we were crossing the Harbour Bridge we had to call my Grandad because he was already in Auckland and we were going to stay there for an 1 hour or 2. Once we had found him we got some food at Brewers and it was quiz night and I thought it was pretty cool. After a while we had left my Grandad’s hotel to go pick up my Aunty and Uncle. They had to isolate at the Holiday Inn and once we had got to the hotel there was police everywhere. They were opening the gate for us. I thought we were the royals. Once we had stopped driving my uncle and aunty came out of nowhere than we had to drive home. Have you ever had to pick someone up that was isolating?

Last week on Thursday we had learnt about Kauri dieback which is a disease for Kauri trees. On Thursday Whaea Stella came into our classroom and talked about Kauri trees and Kauri dieback. The Kauri trees have been around for millions of years. Whaea Stella talked about how we should always use the washing stations to clean are feet so there's no dirt on your feet because that's how Kauri dieback spreads. If you don't know what Kauri dieback is it's a very bad illness for Kauri trees and many of them are dying because of it. We had done this so we can save Kauri trees from extinction because there isn't many left in New Zealand.

Have you ever seen Tane Mahuta before?

My Mums BirthDay

It was my Mums birthday on Sunday. On my Mums birthday we had made breakfast in bed for her and some coffee. Once my mum had finished her breakfast and coffee I gave her the cards and she laughed at mine, mine was pretty funny. At nine in the morning my Uncle Grandma and I went to go pick up my Grandad from the KeriKeri airport because he had to go away for work. Once we had gotten back home my Mum didn't feel well and we were going to go to the Noughty Penguin in Russell at 11AM. We didn’t go to the Noughty Penguin and I was looking forward to go there. My Uncle and I were going to do some bets there because there was a arcade there and we were going to see who could get the most wins. My Mum was starting to feel a little bit better so we went and I was really happy and glad that my mum felt better. This reminds me of when I went to the pub with my friend Blake in Australia.

Have you ever been to the Noughty Penguin before in Russell?

The Hand Crafted Catapult

In Te Ngahere we have been doing some EPro8.On Tuesday we had to make a catapult. We were split into groups of 4 and 3. When we were building we had to use kinetic energy and potential energy. potential energy is when the object stays still and the energy is stored in the ball and kinetic energy is when the object's energy is let out. We only had a limited amount of resources and we had to use bamboo sticks, rubber bands, tape, string, scissors, and a ping pong ball. My group were struggling a little bit with building the catapult. We had made the structure we just had no clue of what to do for the catapult. We were stuck in the pit. After a while we all started to talk to each other and came up with this really cool idea. Once we had thought of the good idea we took down our catapult just by pulling some sticks out and then we had made the bowl that will hold the ball. After a while we had finished our catapult and it worked really well but not as good as the others but we were happy with it. But next time we need to work on communication. Have you ever made a catapult before?

blog comment

Hi my name is Hudson and I’m a year 7 student. I think your boat animation is super cool. I like how you made the waves move and how you have different colours for the wave. That must if been hard to make. I like how you designed your boat  with the yellow and red stripes on the side. I also really like how the waves in the front and in the back are dark blue and light blue.

How hard was it and how long did it take you to do it?

Lunch At Greens For Shavams Birthday

In Te Ngahere we went to lunch at Greens for Shavams birthday. For lunch we had butter chicken which was super good but the food would be a little better if it was spicy in my opinion, we even got soft drinks. We all got chocolate eggs which I was not expecting at all because it wasn’t even our b-day, after we had been given our eggs there was a trolley full of eggs that would of cost a lot of money for does eggs. We all sang Shavam happy birthday and after that Jade and Angela presented Shavam a letter with everyone's names on it saying happy birthday. After that we all did some witch was fun and we were really loud people across the road could hear when cars were going past.

Have you ever done something like that for anyone before?

what we have been doing in maths

In Te Ngahere we have been doing some maths. We have been learning  place value, jumping the number line and more.I’m in a group called circles. We were adding with decimals. Adding with decimals is quite easy the way we have been learning it. So you would have to draw a pyramid and draw some boxes. You would have to draw numbers in the boxes is well and work the equation out. Some of the questions were a little hard because some of the questions were missing numbers so we had to figure what is was and that was fun it gave it some more spice in it.

Have you ever added decimals the way we had to do it?
