Wacky Wednesday

Hi my name is Hudson and I'm a year seven student at Paihia School. In Paihia school we are having a Wacky Wednesday. If you don't know what Wacky Wednesday is it is when everybody dresses up in funny costumes and wigs. For Wacky Wednesday I dressed up as Rapunzel which is my sisters dress that is very tight. I also named myself Rahudzel. All of seniors that were wearing costumes or wigs had to get a photo taken and then we came back to class and some other people in costumes got a photo by themselves or with some other people that also had funny costumes. My favourite costume was Mama J or Jacob because he was dressed up like a mum Which was really funny and next time I do this I would probably wear a wig that has long hair

Have you ever had a Wacky Wednesday before?

Mean While In Lock-down

Hi my name is Hudson and I go to Paihia school. We have been in lock-down for about 3 weeks now. In lock-down we have been going for a lot walks with my family that are in my bubble. I’ve been mostly outside skating up and down my street in lock-down. On Thursday at night my bubble was playing spot light and having home made pizzas. When we were playing spot light I was hiding in a cardboard box I was doing really well and had won the round but when I got found my uncle had kicked the box with me inside it and he kicked it over and over.

Have you ever played spotlight befor?

LockDown

Hi my name is Hudson and I go to Paihia school. This week and last week we have been in lock-down due to Covid. I was in shock because NZ had done so well with covid. Lock-down had been announced on Tuesday and we would be going into lock-down at
12pm. I was a bit upset because we couldn’t go to school because I enjoy playing soccer in between breaks also I like doing work in a classroom not from home. Also I thought we would be in
lock-down only for a few days but covid got worse.

4 Shot Movies

Hi my name is Hudson and I go to Paihia School. This week in Te Ngahere we have been learning about the 4 shots because we have been making movies about our place . The 4 shots are establishing shots which is where the scene is been taking, the long shot witch is when the character is introduced, the medium shot shows a bit more detail of the character and lastly the close up witch is when you see what there doing. I think our group had done well when holding the ipad still when recording, we also could of done a better close up of the character. I think this is very help for me if I want to make my own movies and become a director in the future.

Have you ever learnt about the 4 shot movie?

NanoGirl

Hi my name is Hudson and on Tuesday Nano girl came to our school. When
Nanogirl come to our school she  showed us some of the stuff she had been researching about science. My favourite part of Nanogirl’s show was when she had lit her hand on fire. I had learned that you can put a skewer through  a balloon without popping it by putting the skewer through the wrinkled part of the balloon and push into the darkest part of the balloon, I could use this in the future and show my friends.

Have you ever watched nano girls show before?

Every scientists makes mistakes and some of the biggest mistake turn into the most amazing things

Drive To Auckland

On the 12/5/21 my grandma and I went to Auckland to pick up some family from the UK. We had left at 6:17 well something like that. After a while of driving there was lots of road works ,we had just sit there for ages and then we had finally started to move. We had stopped at Caltex in Whangarei to get some fuel and some snacks along the road because we still had 2 hours ahead of us.

When we were crossing the Harbour Bridge we had to call my Grandad because he was already in Auckland and we were going to stay there for an 1 hour or 2. Once we had found him we got some food at Brewers and it was quiz night and I thought it was pretty cool. After a while we had left my Grandad’s hotel to go pick up my Aunty and Uncle. They had to isolate at the Holiday Inn and once we had got to the hotel there was police everywhere. They were opening the gate for us. I thought we were the royals. Once we had stopped driving my uncle and aunty came out of nowhere than we had to drive home. Have you ever had to pick someone up that was isolating?

Last week on Thursday we had learnt about Kauri dieback which is a disease for Kauri trees. On Thursday Whaea Stella came into our classroom and talked about Kauri trees and Kauri dieback. The Kauri trees have been around for millions of years. Whaea Stella talked about how we should always use the washing stations to clean are feet so there's no dirt on your feet because that's how Kauri dieback spreads. If you don't know what Kauri dieback is it's a very bad illness for Kauri trees and many of them are dying because of it. We had done this so we can save Kauri trees from extinction because there isn't many left in New Zealand.

Have you ever seen Tane Mahuta before?

My Mums BirthDay

It was my Mums birthday on Sunday. On my Mums birthday we had made breakfast in bed for her and some coffee. Once my mum had finished her breakfast and coffee I gave her the cards and she laughed at mine, mine was pretty funny. At nine in the morning my Uncle Grandma and I went to go pick up my Grandad from the KeriKeri airport because he had to go away for work. Once we had gotten back home my Mum didn't feel well and we were going to go to the Noughty Penguin in Russell at 11AM. We didn’t go to the Noughty Penguin and I was looking forward to go there. My Uncle and I were going to do some bets there because there was a arcade there and we were going to see who could get the most wins. My Mum was starting to feel a little bit better so we went and I was really happy and glad that my mum felt better. This reminds me of when I went to the pub with my friend Blake in Australia.

Have you ever been to the Noughty Penguin before in Russell?

The Hand Crafted Catapult

In Te Ngahere we have been doing some EPro8.On Tuesday we had to make a catapult. We were split into groups of 4 and 3. When we were building we had to use kinetic energy and potential energy. potential energy is when the object stays still and the energy is stored in the ball and kinetic energy is when the object's energy is let out. We only had a limited amount of resources and we had to use bamboo sticks, rubber bands, tape, string, scissors, and a ping pong ball. My group were struggling a little bit with building the catapult. We had made the structure we just had no clue of what to do for the catapult. We were stuck in the pit. After a while we all started to talk to each other and came up with this really cool idea. Once we had thought of the good idea we took down our catapult just by pulling some sticks out and then we had made the bowl that will hold the ball. After a while we had finished our catapult and it worked really well but not as good as the others but we were happy with it. But next time we need to work on communication. Have you ever made a catapult before?

blog comment

Hi my name is Hudson and I’m a year 7 student. I think your boat animation is super cool. I like how you made the waves move and how you have different colours for the wave. That must if been hard to make. I like how you designed your boat  with the yellow and red stripes on the side. I also really like how the waves in the front and in the back are dark blue and light blue.

How hard was it and how long did it take you to do it?

Lunch At Greens For Shavams Birthday

In Te Ngahere we went to lunch at Greens for Shavams birthday. For lunch we had butter chicken which was super good but the food would be a little better if it was spicy in my opinion, we even got soft drinks. We all got chocolate eggs which I was not expecting at all because it wasn’t even our b-day, after we had been given our eggs there was a trolley full of eggs that would of cost a lot of money for does eggs. We all sang Shavam happy birthday and after that Jade and Angela presented Shavam a letter with everyone's names on it saying happy birthday. After that we all did some witch was fun and we were really loud people across the road could hear when cars were going past.

Have you ever done something like that for anyone before?

what we have been doing in maths

In Te Ngahere we have been doing some maths. We have been learning  place value, jumping the number line and more.I’m in a group called circles. We were adding with decimals. Adding with decimals is quite easy the way we have been learning it. So you would have to draw a pyramid and draw some boxes. You would have to draw numbers in the boxes is well and work the equation out. Some of the questions were a little hard because some of the questions were missing numbers so we had to figure what is was and that was fun it gave it some more spice in it.

Have you ever added decimals the way we had to do it?

Try two of taskmaster

Hi in Te Ngahere we have been doing taskmaster and were doing it again. On the second attempt I was the Drawer again. I think it was easier than the first one because we had more experience and they weren’t as loud as the first time the drawings was nearly the same as the first but it was different. The only thing that was challenging was were the drawings go. The runners tried using there noises and it kind of worked well but we stopped doing it

Have you ever done taskmaster before?

I'm from Australia and lived in Brisbane

Hello my name is Hudson. Im from Australia and lived in Brisbane I came to Paihia because my grandparents moved here a couple years ago. I have recently come to this school. I already have 3 friends their names are Mark, Logan and Makaire we sometimes play tag and soccer together. We are currently writing about a whisper and at the end of the term we’re going to write another story and see how much we have improved.

Have you ever moved countries before?

TASKMASTER!

 TASKMASTER!

Hi in Te Ngahere we have been doing something called taskmaster. Taskmaster is something where you get an activity and try and do it in less than 5 minutes. We had to do a drawing. I was the drawer and there was two runners they had to tell me what the picture looked like and tell me where they were but they weren’t allowed to touch the paper which was challenging . Being the drawer was annoying because the runners would keep on shouting no go there over and over, they would keep getting louder every single time it felt like there was a gunshot and it was 100x louder.

Tsunami Blog Post

Last  Friday, March 5,  Logan and I went to go camping. When we were leaving Logan’s house to go camping,  we’d been driving for about 30 minutes and the phones were making alert sounds. Logan and I were like “What was that?” Logan’s grandparents said “There’s a tsunami.” My house was right next to water and I thought to my self ‘If it hits my house it’s gone. Damn.’ There were three more alerts about the tsunami and saying evacuate. But when we got to the campsite I called my grandma to see how they were doing. While we were calling another alert came saying it was all clear to go home.
